Castle Island holds a special place in my heart as I've been going there with my family since I was a little kid. My parents used to load up our Big Wheels, roller blades, and bikes and bring us there to cruise around and then play on the playground before stopping for ice cream cones. I always loved these alphabet animals when I was little and I love that they're still there. I usually played on the elephant (maybe why I'm drawn to that animal still) because the kangaroo was always reserved for my big sister - "K" for Kelly!
While you're there, you can take a walk out onto the pier for a good view of the city and the ocean. This is a really cool spot to watch the planes landing and taking off from Logan Airport. I think right after work is a nice time to stop over here.
And most importantly, you can't go to Castle Island and not stop by Sullivan's for some food or an ice cream. I'm a bit of a lobster connoisseur and I can confidently say that they have, hands down, the best lobster roll I've ever had. They don't skimp on the lobster meat either, each roll is stuffed and overflowing with deliciousness.
See, this little guy knows what's up. He's no doubt enjoying a meal fit for a king.
If you're looking for a fun place to go this summer, grab your Big Wheel and your appetite and get over there! P.S. I don't know how this post turned into a travel brochure, but nevertheless... Castle Island, woo!
