Printable 2014 Editorial Calendar
You know that saying "better late than never"? Sometimes I feel like that is the story of my life! Somehow it took me until March to realize that I can't function without my editorial calendar. Remember when I made the printable calendars last year? It's well into 2014 now and I seriously need to get with the program! So, I whipped up a 2014 version of last years editorial calendar and just wanted to bop over here to share it with all of you. Here's the FREE PRINTABLE. Enjoy, and forgive me for the delay!

October 2013 Desktop Calendar Wallpaper
Well, October is here, and I'm feeling pretty good going into this new month! I mean, look, it's the first of the month and I've already got a desktop calendar ready for you to download! I haven't done one in so long, but I've been feeling inspired by the change in season and I just couldn't let another month go by without a new wallpaper design. With back-to-school season in full force, I felt like chalkboard was a pretty appropriate theme. Plus, I've been wanting to try my hand at making my own chalkboard background in photoshop for a while anyway.
As always, I've created a wallpaper for both your desktop and iPhone (choose from the download options below). But, this time I've actually created 2 options for you iPhone. I removed the text for the second option so that you can have a blank chalkboard background for your home screen. I love that my apps now look like they're sitting on a little chalkboard. I hope you've all started October off on the right foot as well, and have a wonderful Autumn season ahead of you! Enjoy!

We Are Boston Strong
Let me just start by saying how proud I am to be writing this post from the beautiful city of Boston this morning, where, thanks to the Boston Police Department and many other law enforcement agencies, I am not feeling one bit of fear. Although I can't believe it has only been a week since tragedy struck the heart of our city, it has certainly been a long one. When I learned about the lives that had been lost, and all of those who were severely injured at the hands of these cowardly terrorists, I was completely devastated. But, in the days that followed these heinous acts, I was so proud to see the people of Boston come together with confidence that we would find who did this and we would rise above it. And we did!! Although there is still grieving to be done, I am comforted in knowing that the healing process can begin. For those with severe injuries from the attack, the physical healing process may take a very long time, but thankfully with The One Fund foundation, we can all do a little bit to help them out.
When I thought about what else I could do to help with the healing process, I turned to what I know best... art / design. So today, I want to share this free Boston Strong iPhone background with all of you. It may not be much, but having it on your phone will be a constant reminder that we are strong, and united, and that we will persevere together. Last week I was able to use my art in another way. While walking through the Boston Public Garden early Thursday morning with my sister, I noticed that the Make Way for Ducklings were wearing their Easter Bonnets. Like most people from this area, these ducklings hold a special place in my heart. In fact, they are a big part of my home decor. When I saw them in the park that day, I was surprised that they weren't wearing any Boston gear. Since these little guys are often seen wearing jerseys to show support for our Boston teams, I thought that there should be a way for them to show support for Boston at a time when we need it most. That day I designed these little marathon bibs for each of the ducklings to wear, then brought them over to the park with a couple of my coworkers to put them in place. It was my hope that they could bring some smiles to Boston during this dark time. I hope it's working, and that you all have a reason to smile today!

April Desktop Calendar Wallpaper
Is everyone else as excited as I am that April is here?! I am so ready to have a little color outside with flowers blooming, and green leaves growing. Not to mention, I can't wait to shove these winter clothes into the back of my closet and make room for a bright spring wardrobe! The warmer weather and beautiful colors of spring are seriously so good for your soul, especially after a long snowy winter.
For those of you who, like me, have to sit in front of a computer screen all day, I figured I'd bring a little bit of spring to your desktop with this months calendar wallpaper! I thought this season was the perfect time to try "painting" in watercolor with my bamboo tablet again. I've found that it's almost as soothing to paint on screen as it is on canvas, because you can just kind of go with the flow. If you want to give it a try yourself, (you don't necessarily need a bamboo tablet) take a look at the watercolor tutorial I followed to learn how.

March Desktop Calendar Wallpaper
So, it's March 5th, have you updated your desktop calendar yet? If you haven't, I have a brand spankin' new one for you! This months calendar was inspired by my new "Pretty Things" board on Pinterest, where you'll find things like flowers, vintage typewriters, teacups, english cottages, and gardens. I've been feeling inspired by the coming change in season, and that is being reflected in my Pinterest board as well as this desktop calendar. I'm very much looking forward to the spring and the blooming flowers, warmer weather, and spring fashion. March is the perfect time to sit down with a cup of tea and daydream about the pretty things that are coming our way.

How to Stay Organized + Printable Editorial Calendar
I feel like life has really been picking up speed lately, and it's becoming more of a challenge to keep up. Are you feeling it too? I think that being busy can be a really good thing, but just between work, freelance projects, and events, there's been a lot to keep track of! I've recently found that post-it notes and reminders in my phone just aren't enough anymore. I've also really been needing a place to organize my blog ideas & inspiration. I've come up with a couple of solutions to keep myself organized and on top of everything, and since then, things have been running smoothly. I know we all different ways of keeping order, but I thought I'd share what works for me in case it works for you too. Plus I've got a colorful freebie for you at the end of this post!
Having the planner with me at all times has really been working out and I feel like I'm really on top of things. Any time something comes up, I have the planner right there to make a note of it. However, as a visual person, I knew I was also going to need reminders that I could see without having to open a notebook or planner. Usually post-it notes do the trick for me because I stick them right where I'll see them every day. But, when you're working with more than a handful of them, they become significantly less effective. I realized that what I needed was an editorial calendar to hang on my wall that was completely separate from my regular calendar; a place where I could plan out future blog posts, as well as keep track of current freelance projects.
When designing my editorial calendar, I considered what would be most helpful to have on it. I came up with 4 section that I thought would be most beneficial for blogging and freelance projects:
1. a standard monthly calendar 2. space for future blog post ideas 3. a place to note upcoming holidays and themes that might influence posts 4. a place to keep track of current freelance projects
I've been finding equal success with my editorial calendar as I have my planner, and I've actually found that they compliment each other. Anything that I add to my planner during the day goes right on my editorial calendar when I get home. This way, I don't have to worry about missing anything or forgetting any ideas!

I've been in the market for a good planner for quite some time now. Carrying around a notebook has been super helpful for jotting down ideas, but I've needed something to organize those thoughts into a realistic plan and schedule. Enter my new 2013 Weekly / Monthly planner from Paper Source...

February Desktop Calendar Wallpaper
Is it just me, or are you also in shock every time another month passes us by? Time is flying, and even according to Punxsutawney Phil, spring is just around the corner. Though, the snow we've been having lately is a nice little affirmation that winter still exists here in New England, and that global warming hasn't gotten the best of us yet!
As excited as I am for spring, I don't want to rush through February because I have a lot of fun things planned for you guys. To celebrate Valentine's Day, I'll be spreading the love with some free printables, downloads, and Valentine DIYs. To kick things off, I've created this February desktop calendar wallpaper for you. I think The Beatles knew what they were talking about when they said "Love is all you need".
I have to say, this pink background was really fun to make because it was the first time I used my Bamboo Tablet to paint in watercolor in photoshop. Do you have one of these tablets? They're amazing! This is just a simple example of what you can do with it, but I hope to learn some more complex tricks soon. December Desktop Calendar Wallpaper
Happy Friday everyone! I feel like I've been all over the place since my move, but things are finally starting to come together. And, even though my schedule is a little off and it's already December 7th, I didn't want to skip this months desktop calendar. Better late than never right?? To make up for the delay a little bit, I've made this calendar a double whammy and you can use it through January too! How's that for Christmas spirit? I've also included an iphone wallpaper for your lock screen ( I don't recommend using it as your home screen, but hey, whatever floats your boat) and you can wish yourself a happy holiday every time you unlock your screen! I can't believe that it's already November 1st! As I get older I feel like every year goes by just a little bit faster, and this year is no exception. But, if time flies when you're having fun, then this can only be a good thing. At this rate, I feel like winter is going to be here before we know it. Freebie for Breast Cancer Survivors & Fighters
Although today marks the fifth and final Pink Post here on Creative Soul Spectrum, Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues on through to the end of October, and its importance will last much longer than that. For some, breast cancer will have an effect on the rest of their lives. For those who have lost a loved one to the illness, for those who are currently fighting, and for those who are survivors, the awareness doesn't go away. My own grandmother celebrated her 47th year being breast cancer free yesterday, October 18th. Next week she'll celebrate her 85th birthday as a happy, healthy, and young-spirited woman!
To celebrate any of my readers who may currently be fighting breast cancer, or for any who are survivors of it, I have created original artwork for you to download and use as a wallpaper background on your iPhone so that you can proudly display how strong you are! Although my grandmother won't be able to make use of this wallpaper because she doesn't have an iphone, I think she'll be ok with it because she doesn't have a computer to read my blog anyway! I hope those of you who are fighters and survivors will enjoy this artwork, and that if you know someone who is a fighter or a survivor, that you will pass it along to them.
