Valentine Wreaths

This Valentine's Day I decided to show my apartment a little love by sprucing it up with some pretty wreaths. The great thing about this project is that it can be applied to any holiday by switching up the colors of your materials. I made two different kinds of wreaths so I'll be breaking this project up into two parts. 

WREATH 1: RIBBON WREATH

Materials: 

Wire wreath form, ribbons, ribbons, more ribbons, and fabric

Step 1:

Cut fabric into strips that are about 2"x 6.5"

Cut ribbon into pieces that are also about 6.5" long

Step 2:
Tie the strips to the wreath form. Repeat this process roughly a million times until the wreath form is completely covered. Warning: This process takes FOR-EHH-VERR.

Step 3:
At this point you'll be sick of tying ribbons, and will likely have developed carpal tunnel syndrome, but no wreath is complete without a big bow. So slap one on this sucker and call it a day!

WREATH 2: YARN WREATH

Materials: 

Styrofoam wreath form, different colored yarn, wreath accessories (ie. butterflies)

 Step 1: Take the first ball of yarn and tie it to the wreath form.

Step 2: Wrap the yarn around the wreath form as many times as you want.

Step 3: Keeping the first ball of yarn attached to the wreath form, tie on a second color and start wrapping that one.

Step 4: While wrapping the yarn around the wreath form you'll also be wrapping it around the strands of yarn from the previous colors. Keep the strands on the back side of your wreath.

It took me way too long to realize that this was the best strategy for wrapping the yarn...

Step 5: Once you're done wrapping, make a loop with the end of the yarn so you can hang the wreath. Then, add the wreath accessories!

I made a third wreath using a different kind of yarn.

The yarn for this one was thicker and it only took a few minutes to make.

And there you have it.

I see green yarn and shamrock covered ribbons in my near future...
